Ross Twyman’s fourth place in Saturday’s Sprint Race was the highlight of the weekend for EHA Racing, during the penultimate round of the British Supersport Championship at Assen’s ‘Cathedral of Motorsport’ TT Circuit.
The Dutch round is a popular addition to the British championship calendar and with David Allingham adding a fifth place in today’s feature middleweight encounter, EHA Racing can take a lot of positives away from the famous Dutch TT Circuit, and into the final round at Brands Hatch in a fortnight’s time.
Ross Twyman [4th & DNF]:
I’m delighted to have secured my second fourth-placed finish this season, especially at a top circuit like Assen. The second race didn’t go to plan for us, but we can take a lot of positives away from here with the new Yamaha R6. We will go to Brands and give everything we have, to try and grab a second podium before the season ends. Thanks as always to the whole team for a massive effort this weekend.
David Allingham [DNF & 5th]:
It was an up and down weekend for me. The first race was going good; I got into fourth place and started closing down the two guys in front of me, but unfortunately, I went down in a fast part of the track. Race two was very difficult and I struggled the whole race. The bike just wasn’t working with me and the results showed that. Big thanks to the whole team, my dad and all my sponsors. Another difficult weekend yes, but I am trying my best, so let’s hope Brands can end the season on a high for us.
Gail Allingham – Team Manager:
Certainly a weekend with a number highs and lows. We were delighted with the fourth place Ross secured in the opening Supersport race yesterday, and we really were hoping he could continue that form today. Unfortunately, a technical issue with his bike stopped all thoughts of repeating that result.
Thankfully David was not injured after his crash yesterday. Today it was disappointing that he lost the tow to the lead pack challenging for the win, but he still ended up fifth, which means we are still fighting at the front end of championship. So there’s still lots to play for at Brands Hatch at the last round. A big thank you to Neil, Ciaran and Gary from Jewson for joining us this weekend. Their support is very much appreciated.
Allingham currently holds fourth place in the British Supersport Championship standings with Twyman sixth. The final round of the British Supersport Championship takes place at Brands Hatch in Kent on the weekend of October 13/14/15th, 2017.
