EHA Racing enjoyed a successful Bank Holiday BSB meeting at Oulton Park in Cheshire: Alastair Seeley secured a brace of podium finishes [2-2] in the British Supersport class and BSB rookie David Allingham scored his first points in the premier British Superbike Championship on the CFM Motorsport prepared machine.
Seeley’s double podium increased his haul of points to 80 this season in the British Supersport class with four consecutive second-placed finishes, setting him up well for next week’s International North West 200 on the EHA Racing Supersport machine.
Allingham again impressed in only his second British Superbike meeting. The Derry man made it through to the second stage of BSB’s highly charged qualifying [Q2], then went on to fight and battle for the final point in the opening race taking fifteenth position. In race two he finished 20th but has gained valuable knowledge in the early stages of the Superbike career.
Seeley said afterwards: “We worked hard all weekend and while we want to be on the top step, we’ve shown the consistency of the CFM prepared EHA Racing package again. Four second-placed finished in the opening two rounds is a strong start to the season. We just didn’t have enough to challenge for the wins at Oulton, but every dog has its day and our time will come on that top step. Thanks to Craig and the boys for a big effort and Edward, Gail and the team for another good strong weekend of racing.”
Allingham said of his Superbike outing at Oulton: “Oulton is a tough but very enjoyable track to ride. Totally different from Silverstone but I’ve loved every minute of in. We worked through the process in free practice and qualifying and to make Q2 again was very satisfying. In race one I settled in and pushed hard at the end to force a mistake from Corti and we were able to secure our first point-scoring finish in only our second meeting. I’m so happy for the whole EHA Racing team. We didn’t have a bad second race, but the pace was increased and I was happy enough to match my lap time and get more laps under my belt on the Superbike. I’m loving the whole BSB experience. Thanks to Craig and the boys and everyone at EHA Racing for another top weekend.”
Gail Allingham – Team Manager: “We can’t be disappointed with two more Supersport podiums from Alastair and we are delighted for David, having secured his first points in the Superbike class. Oulton is always a great weekend with massive crowds over the Bank Holiday period, and we can leave happy in the knowledge that our season has started very well. Next week we head back to Northern Ireland for the North West 200, so there’s no rest for Alastair and his crew, but it’s something we are all looking forward to. Thanks to those who turned up to support us this weekend.”
