Series rookie Luke Hedger continues to push the EHA Racing RSV-4 RF Aprilia to the fore in the Pirelli National 1000cc Superstock Championship, taking fourth place in the May Day Bank Holiday meeting at Oulton Park.
It was the Bristol based 21-year-old’s fourth consecutive, fourth-place finish, and he is a sure bet to be on the podium in the coming rounds aboard the EHA Racing prepared Italian machinery.
The race was red-flagged and re-started due to inclement weather conditions, but the youngster showed great maturity to negotiate the tricky conditions in the shortened nine-lap re-start to take a more than impressive finish just outside the podium positions.
We started the weekend looking at the top ten, as we knew this track would be a bit harder than Brands Hatch Indy, but we made good progress. We had a real good set up and secured P6 on the grid which I was happy with. In the race you couldn’t call it, as it started dry, then was red flagged because of rain. I was up to second in the re-start and battled to the line but ended up fourth, which was a bit disappointing not to grab a podium. I’m now sixth in the championship standings which is a great start to the year. I can’t thank the team and Ian for all their hard work and my sponsors SRS Swindon Karting.
Gail Allingham – Team Manager:
That was another great weekend for EHA Racing at Oulton Park, and we are so happy with all the boys. Luke rode so well and deserved his first podium in the Superstock 1000cc on the EHA Racing Aprilia, but we know it will come. Big thanks to all our sponsors and supporters as always – we do appreciate everything you do for us.
