David Allingham took eighth and fourth placed finishes at Silverstone over the weekend aboard the EHA Racing Yamaha in the British Supersport Championship. His team-mate Ross Twyman suffered at the hands of the inclement weather conditions with two non-finishes.
It was a difficult weekend at Silverstone. I found it tough trying to get a feeling in the wet conditions, but the team worked hard and we were lucky to grab a top five finish in the second race. There’s now only ten points between me and second place in the championship table, so I’m looking forward to the last three rounds.
“I was really looking forward to this weekend at Silverstone as it’s a track that suits me. After a good qualifying in fifth, I was running fourth in iffy conditions in the Sprint Race until I hit a bump and lost the front, which ended my race on Saturday. Today was wet, but I had a good race and was feeling okay, until the rear came round and threw me off. So it’s a weekend to forget and move on. I am sorry to the team and all my sponsors but we will be there at Oulton Park and show what we can do.
Gail Allingham – Team Manager:
“It was a tricky weekend for the Supersport boys weather-wise. David ended up with a decent eighth and fourth and is now only 10 points off second place in the championship. With six races remaining there is a lot to play for. I am so disappointed for Ross as he was riding so well all weekend, but was really unlucky to crash out of both races. The positive is he isn’t hurt. We just need to look forward to Oulton as it’s a track he goes well at, so I’m confident he will be back fighting at the sharp end. Thanks to all our sponsors for your continued support.
The next round of the British Supersport Championship takes place this coming weekend at Oulton Park – September 15/16/17th
