EHA Racing’s Ross Twyman and David Allingham posted consistent top ten finishes in the British Supersport Championship at Thruxton, during round seven of this year’s campaign over the weekend.
Allingham [7th & 8th] as a genuine title contender, was obviously disappointed not to be closer to the business end of proceedings, whilst Twyman [6th & 7th] remains philosophical after another weekend perfecting the set-up aboard the all-new EHA Racing Yamaha R6.
“This weekend at Thruxton started on the right note and in Free Practice 2 I ended up in third place. In qualifying, I finished P8, but we had a really good set up and in Saturday’s Sprint Race I had the pace to run at the front, but struggled down the back straight and was losing a fair chunk of time. For the feature race today, I had good pace to run at the front, but didn’t get a great launch off the line and had to make my way through and ended up seventh. Not a great weekend for results but I’m very happy that we have sorted the new bike and when we get the top end sorted, then I’m sure we will be standing on that box. Massive thanks to the entire EHA Racing team and all of my personal sponsors.”
“A very difficult weekend. It’s very frustrating for me at the minute, knowing that I can challenge for wins, so being back where I am, is tough after a race weekend. All I can do is go home, re-group and come back more positive and try my best again at Cadwell Park. Big thanks to the team for all their efforts and also all of my personal sponsors.”
Gail Allingham – Team Manager:
“A disappointing weekend for our Supersport riders. We just couldn’t get away with the leading pack and the gap that formed on the first few laps, was too big to close and get in amongst the top finishers. The positives that we must take away from the weekend, is that we have made big improvements with the new 2017 Yamaha that Ross is riding. We just have a few more problems to work through, but the team is almost there with it. We are looking forward to bridging that gap at Cadwell in a few weeks’ time. Thanks to the sponsors and the team for their hard work this weekend.”
Round 8 of the British Supersport Championship takes place at Cadwell Park on the weekend of August 18/19/20.
