EHA Racing will field Johnny Blackshaw this weekend on the In Competition prepared EHA Racing Aprilia RSV4 RF where he will ride alongside the team’s Pirelli National 1000cc Superstock Championship contender Joe Collier.
Blackshaw, an accomplished national racer, normally takes up the role of crew chief at EHA Racing looking after Andy Reid, but with the Ulsterman out injured, a decision was made to utilise the 26-year-old’s expertise – in a bid to capture more information and data on the ultra-competitive RSV4 RF in EHA Racing trim, as the season reaches its crucial point.
Ian Newton from In Competition said: “Johnny is an experienced rider with a great level of technical knowledge, and with Andy out injured, it was a sensible decision to use his services for Silverstone. It’s something different that maybe hasn’t been done before in the BSB paddock, and as well as helping with information for EHA Racing, we also get to see two bikes back on the grid, so it’s a win, win situation.”
Blackshaw said: “I’ve really enjoyed working with both Andy and Joe in the team this year and this is a little unexpected for me, but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s an opportunity for me to race the RSV4 RF Aprilia, that I have tested previously and also worked on as a crew chief, and if it helps the team glean some additional information moving forward then it’s been a good decision all round. But I do intend enjoying myself!”
